Partly Facetious: mature autocracy preferable to immature democracy!
"Another one has threatened that if anything were to happen to him he would register an FIR."
"Who else, other than the Chaudhrys of Gujrat?"
"Arbab Rahim."
"Hasn't he already been mauled by a crowd?"
"Yes but..."
"You think people want to do a bit more?"
"Revenge is sweet. Besides, he is also on the exit control list."
"So how does he deal with that? Go to court or register an FIR?"
"Don't be facetious."
"The things he did in the name of dictatorship!"
"Tinpot or the other variety?"
"What's the other variety? Dictatorship is always tinpot."
"Yes, but the other variety is tinpot that is in the national interest."
"And the man who determines the national interest is the tinpot dictator."
"You are being facetious."
"Going back to Arbab Rahim I think people should understand that their falling out of power is revenge enough. That is what politics needs to be about."
"Perhaps, in mature democracies."
"We have a mature autocracy."
"One can't really talk with you today."
"I tell you a mature autocracy is preferable to an immature democracy."
"God in heaven!"
"See in a mature autocracy decisions are taken."
"However non-representative of the wishes of the people those decisions maybe?"
"Yes, while in an immature democracy no decisions are taken, or if they are taken there are constant flip-flops."
"Man you are in a strange mood."
"Indeed but going back to Arbab Rahim's threat to register an FIR: I wasn't aware that an FIR was such a threat for a government in power!"
"Right, because if the police is given specific instructions then nothing will come of it."
